Lil Nas X‘s latest hit ‘Call Me By Your Name’ may be burning up the charts, but he has found himself in some hot water.
For, he is being accused of swiping the song’s visuals from FKA Twigs‘s ‘Cellophane’ music video.

Andrew Thomas Huang, who directed the ‘Cellophane’ video, took to Instagram to compare the similarities of the two visuals.
Speaking on the similarities, he said:
“When an artist is in a position of power (amplified by major record labels, social media, PR, etc) and repurposes someone’s labor and ideas to serve their brand image, they cause harm by displacing the efforts of the artists who did the original leg work.”
“Intentional or not, capitalizing on other artists’ work happens and we need to discuss the scale and magnitude and power asymmetries in this industry.”
Nas X’s video has drawn criticism and praise from the music industry, with some calling it “wicked” and others praising it for its creativity and confidence.
